About Us

Historically, institutional institutions in the Department of Religion were present in 1975 through the Decree of the Minister of Religion (KMA) No. 18 of 1975 which regulates the formation of the Religious Research and Development Agency. This KMA refers to Presidential Decree Number 44 of 1974 concerning Departmental Organizational Principles, and Presidential Decree Number 45 of 1974 concerning Departmental Organizational Structure. Its tasks and functions are to prepare data and information on policy designs. The dynamics of the research unit was present when KMA Number 1 Year 2001 was enacted regarding the Position, Duties, Functions, Authority, Organizational Structure, and Work Procedures of the Ministry of Religion. This KMA regulates the organizational structure that was once called the Religious Research and Development Agency, into the Religious Research and Development Agency and the Religious Training. In accordance with KMA, the unit of research is merged with the education unit which was originally located at the Secretariat General. After changing its name, the Agency for Religious Research and Religious Education has the function of carrying out research and development in the field of religion and religion, as well as carrying out education and training of Department of Religion employees. Changes in structure and nomenclature occurred again when the Minister of Religion Regulation (PMA) No. 3/2006 was enacted concerning the Organization and Work Procedures of the Ministry of Religion. At this PMA, the organization changed its name to Research and Development Agency and Education and Training Agency. In this PMA, the task of the Research and Development Agency is to carry out research and development as well as education and training in the field of religion based on policies determined by the Minister of Religion. The R & D Agency's position is getting stronger with the issuance of PMA Number 10 of 2010 concerning the Organization and Work Procedure of the Ministry of Religion.

Vision of the Ministry of Religion Research and Development Agency and the Ministry of Religion 2015-2019 period is

"The Establishment of Research and Development Based Policy Formulation Material, and the Availability of Professional Human Resources in the Ministry of Religion"

To achieve this vision, the Agency for R&D and Training develops the following mission:

  1. Improving the quality of research results and the development of religious life;
  2. Improving the quality of research results and the development of religious and religious education;
  3. Improving the quality of research results and the development of religious literature and treasures;
  4. improve the quality of research results and development of religious education literature and treasures;
  5. Improving the quality of recitation, study and socialization of the Al-Qur'an Manuscripts as well as the optimization of the Bayt Al-Qur'an Museum and Istiqlal Museum;
  6. Improving the quality of human resources through the education and training of administrative staff;
  7. Improving the quality of human resources through education and training of religious education and technical personnel;
  8. Improving the quality of governance in the Ministry of Religion's R&D and Training Agency; and
  9. Improve institutional networks.
